I Have One. Do You?
As you know, I’m a Virtual Assistant (trained and certified by AssistU) and a Trainer of Virtual Assistant students who are enrolled in the AssistU VTP (Virtual Training Program). Once students fulfill the requirements for graduation, AssistU continues to support the new VAs by providing two internship opportunities. Internships are unpaid 8-week partnership experiences between Senior VAs and recent graduates with each graduate committing to provide 4 to 10 hours per week of real-life virtual work. In these special relationships the Senior VA is the client, as well as a mentor to the new grad. It’s a win/win situation for both the Senior VA and the graduate. The grad experiences new tools and methods of doing work and begins to comprehend what it means to truly be a partner. For the Senior VA, it’s a chance to share what he/she has gained through h/her own client work and an excellent way to experience partnering with a VA.
I have one right now – a Virtual Assistant Intern, that is, and she’s awesome. I’ve introduced her to a terrific collaboration tool which tracks tasks, discussions, files and other partnering tools. She’s accountable for tracking and completing those tasks and keeping me informed, and I’m accountable for keeping her accountable! (Well.. there’s more to it on my end than that.)
So I asked her to come up with suggestions/ideas for increasing Internet traffic and presence for my Miche Bag web site and blog. And she did! She researched and provided links and suggestions for so many great ideas, that I just may have to keep her! I’ll have to see how many of those ideas we can inplement before her internship is finished in 3 weeks. 3 Weeks! I do have to hurry!
If you’re an AssistU VA (a Senior VA) and are not participating in the AssistU Internship program, you’re missing out on a terrific opportunity. And if you’re a recent AssistU graduate or a soon-to-be graduate, be sure to sign up for the Internship program next quarter. This is an incredible way to build confidence and begin your VA business.
